Built up by the Amazons on Paradise Island and released into the real world to help defeat the Nazi Germans, Gal Gadot is a perfect fit for the role of Diana a.k.a. Wonder Woman.

The film starts off with Wonder Woman as a child on Paradise Island. She is small but determined to learn to fight like the Amazons that surround her. The Amazons are a society of female superhumans that were sent to protect man from Aries, the god of war.

Diana’s mother, Hippolyta (played by Connie Nielson) refuses to let her begin training, but Diana does so anyway with the help of Hippolyta’s sister Antiope (played by Robin Wright). When Hippolyta discovers this, she permits Diana to continue training.

Diana grows and trains until she is best warrior among the Amazons. Enter Steve Trevor (played by Chris Pine), an English spy who just accidentally discovered Paradise Island. Along with him, is a whole crew of Nazi soldiers. The Amazons and Nazis clash on the beach and all the Nazis are subdued, but at the cost of Antiope.

After witnessing Antiope’s deaths and hearing Steve’s stories, Diana realizes that the war must be because of Aries. She decides to leave along with Steve. They head to London and prepare to head to the war.

The movie has lots of funny moments provided by Diana’s lack of understanding on society in the 1940’s, especially feminine etiquette.

David Thewlis, who is known for his role in Harry Potter, does a wonderful job as Sir Patrick, a politician in Britain’s Parliament. He is a character to keep an eye on and plays his role perfectly.

Overall, the movie makes up for the disappointment that is Batman vs Superman. There is plenty of action and laughs. The plot is really well done and the movie only builds the hype for the upcoming Justice League movie.
